After deservedly earning a gazillion dollars in theatrical revenue, it’s high time ‘Avatar’ fades away from the big screen only to attack the small screen. Looks like we have a date.

Fox has set April 22nd as the date when the ‘Avatar’ DVD and Blu-ray his shelf. Of course there is an environmental statement behind the date as it will be Earth Day and will fit with the film’s message. Also the fact that ‘Alice in Wonderland’ will nab all 3D and IMAX screens factors too.

But you can bet they’re planning to drain your wallets for the DVD release too. The 3-D version won’t hit shelves until November so this will be a standard release for now.

In James Cameron’s own words:

“We’ll do the Blu-ray and the standard def DVD April 22nd, that’s our plan as of right now, and that’ll be pretty much bare bones. And then we’ll do a value-added DVD and a 3-D Blu-ray in I think November sometime.”

It’s only a matter of time before the highest selling DVD of all time record has been broken.
