Mark Millar Says ‘Wanted 2′ Script More International In Scope

Universal had a pitiful 2009 with none of their summer movies hitting the notes they were expecting. It’s time they went back to their trusted moneymakers. One of them is the surprise hit ‘Wanted’ from 2007. And writer Mark Millar says the script’s almost done.

Mark Millar tells IGN that he’s got a script almost done that will bring audiences the same action elements the original provided, but the scope will be international this time with Wesley being hunted by others.
“We’ve been going back and forth with some ideas and everything, but there’s a lot of people to please. I mean, there’s Angelina Jolie, there’s (director) Timur , and there’s Universal, you know? Everybody’s a perfectionist on it, so nobody wants to come in, cash the check, and take off. The screenplay’s almost at the stage [that] people are getting happy with it. Some people had some problems with it a few months ago and some people didn’t like it a month prior to that, the draft that was around.
I can’t remember exactly when it’s going to start shooting – I don’t know if I can even officially say – but it will be soon, and it’s almost ready, the script is almost ready.”
Did he mention Angelina Jolie? For those who’ve seen the first film, how can she be in the film? I really liked the visual style and action sequences in Wanted although the rest of the film could have been better.
Still, waiting for the sequel.
