After the success of Sherlock Holmes, looks like Robert Downey Jr. has another blockbuster franchise under his belt. But what does it mean for his other projects? He may have to leave them astray. He has apparently left the adaptation of ‘Cowboys Vs. Aliens’.

The film is set to be directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man, Iron Man 2) likely in 3D and was hoping to shoot this summer. It seems that the reason Downey quit the project is that this adaptation itself had franchise potential. And Downey already had two of those in the form of ‘Iron Man’ and ‘Holmes’ and was content with them. If you think that left the project dead, think again.
Collider reports that soon after, Daniel Craig (007) is in talks with Dreamworks to replace Robert Downey Jr. Both have a very contrasting brand of humor and a good amount of tweaking must be done to make the Downey-style witty one-liners in the script to something that Craig can pull off. He will definitely amp up the action quotient of the film though.
Looking forward to ‘Iron Man 2′ this summer.
