After my initial doubts, the first batch of pictures were enough to tell me that Jaden Smith seems to be the appropriate kid for a remake of the iconic ‘The Karate Kid’. Now the new trailer nails down that fact.

Set in an exotic Asian locale, the new film will borrow elements of the original plot, wherein a bullied youth (Smith) learns to stand up for himself with the help of an eccentric mentor (Chan).

Jaden Smith (Will Smith’s kid) looks pumped up and ready to kick some butt. Jackie Chan looks to be a great instructor here and the Chinese setting looks glamorous. Overall, the detractors should be pleased as this could have ended up being something much worse.
