No one can disagree that as far as modern directors go, Quentin Tarantino ranks among the auteurs. With a number of classics, he proved yet again with this year’s ‘Inglourious Basterds’ where he stands in Hollywood. He recently released his top 8 films of the year in an interview which contain a lot of interesting choices.

THR had an interview with the director, who listed his entries. Keep in mind that at the time, he hadn’t seen Avatar, The Lovely Bones or Invictus and needed to re-watch a few movies like District 9 again to give them another perspective.
The full list (and video) after the jump!
1 – Star Trek
2 – Drag Me to Hell
3 – Funny People
4 – Up in the Air
5 – Chocolate
6 – Observe and Report
7 – Precious
8 – An Education
Some great choices there. Observe and Report and Funny People are both great films although they were mis-marketed as comedies. I liked Star Trek, but not as much as putting it on the top spot though.
