When I first heard of Nicolas Cage doing a horror film, I almost cried. The memory of the god-awful ‘Wickerman’ is still fresh in my mind no matter how much I try to erase it. Only when I read more about it did my fears begin to go away. And now the trailer actually looks like a decent action/horror with an interesting premise. Plus, you get to see Nicolas Cage ride a horse.

In the supernatural thriller Season of the Witch, Nicolas Cage stars as a 14th century Crusader who returns with his comrade (Ron Perlman) to a homeland devastated by the Black Plague. A beleaguered church, deeming sorcery the culprit of the plague, commands the two knights to transport an accused witch (Claire Foy) to a remote abbey, where monks will perform a ritual in hopes of ending the pestilence.
There’s a few good scares and action scenes that put this movie on the radar for next year. Let’s hope we’re not in for another Wickerman. I don’t think I can live in a world where two of those are existing.
