If you always thought Paranormal Activity is shaping up to be very similar to The Blair Witch Project, here’s something that won’t help. After taking number 1 at the box-office this Halloween and beating the Halloween champion of 5 years “Saw VI”, Paramount is considering a sequel for Paranormal Activity. Anyone remember “Blair Witch : Book of Shadows”? I hope you don’t.

Paramount CEO Brad Grey tells LA Times that they might follow up Paranormal with a sequel. “We have the rights on a worldwide basis to do Paranormal 2 and we’re looking to see if that makes some sense.” Which is a prettier way of saying “Welcome to our next moneymaking horror franchise, folks!” Although I’m being very skeptical, I have my reasons. Sequels to hit horror sensations end up being nothing more than a quick cash-grab, but this one could be good if only the original director returns and has a new stance as the “found footage” gimmick has been done now.
Paranormal Activity ended up beating SAW VI at the box-office and will soon become the most profitable film in Paramount’s history.
