Mel Gibson not interested in ‘Lethal Weapon 5′
Actor isn’t interested in the buddy cop sequel, accepting that they’ll probably remake it anyway.
Though he’s always surrounded by controversy in his off-screen life which has kind of tainted his A-list status, Mel Gibson still makes his own projects and is also a masterful director to boot. But rumors have been afoot that another ‘Lethal Weapon’ installment is in the works which might need him back. Well, they can count him out of the equation.

ComingSoon.net reports that when asked whether he’d be interested in a ‘Lethal Weapon 5′, this is what the actor had to say:
“No. I think the way things are going, they’ll just remake those somehow. Though it’s really tough to replace Danny [Glover]. He was so amazing in those things. It was a good gig for us. They really afforded me the opportunity to slow down and pick things and do things that really interested me.”
I like how he straight up rejects the notion and accepts the fact that they’ll probably remake it anyway, which is most likely how it’s going to eventually go down. But I don’t see the viability of the remake since the buddy cop subgenre which was fresher at the time has been done to death by now and ‘Lethal Weapon’ doesn’t offer anything unique other than its cast and branding.
What do you think?
