Nicholas Cage will star in ‘The Expendables 3′, Clint Eastwood and Harrison Ford to be approached
The third installment in the hit action franchise is aiming really high with its casting.
Looks like things are getting serious with ‘The Expendables 3′, and the filmmakers are actually trying to top the cast they’ve assembled for the sequel. And if what they have in mind comes to happen, they’ll have easily topped it.
Avi Lerner is already planning the third film, and let loose that not only does he have Nicholas Cage playing a part in the three-quel, his wishlist also includes Clint Eastwood and Harrison Ford to star in the film and he has roles for them as well according to Total Film:
We’ve approached Clint Eastwood to be one of the guys, we’ve got a character in mind for him. We’re talking to Harrison Ford. [And we want] Wesley Snipes when he comes back from prison. I’ll give you one more name, we’ve got Nicolas Cage to play [one of the characters]. And we’re going to bring Mickey Rourke back, if he won’t be too crazy. I like Mickey. And of course, all the existing stars [will return].
I think hoping for Eastwood or Ford to join an already crammed film like this is as much as a longshot as this can get, but you actually never know. I mean Clint Eastwood had agreed earlier to be a part of a Kardashian-like reality TV show with his family so one can’t be too sure that he will reject this if the money is right and he has a good character to play. Nicholas Cage, who is an underrated actor who just chooses terrible movies of late, isn’t much of a surprise since he doesn’t seem to reject anything anymore. Harrison Ford would be a biggie for them however, although also the most unlikely.
But I’m suddenly more excited about the three-sequel that the sequel opening this weekend.
