Sacha Baron Cohen sells spy spoof to Paramount
After ‘The Dictator’, Cohen moves on to making fun of 007-like spy films.
Though ‘The Dictator’ didn’t quite the box office on fire (it didn’t even release here for obvious reasons), Sacha Baron Cohen’s first foray into scripted comedy was actually successful in terms of reviews and will do well down the line. Now, he’s just sold another pitch to Paramount.

Variety reports that the actor has sold a James Bond-like spoof pitch to Paramount that “follows a James Bond-like spy forced to go on the run with his long-lost brother, a moronic soccer hooligan.” Sounds like a funny premise that could make great use of Cohen’s comedic sensibilities. He will script the project with Phil Johnston with whom he pitched it with to the studio.
Would you watch another scripted film by Cohen or do you want something more like ‘Borat’ and ‘Bruno’?
