‘Rush Hour 4′ will happen, says producer
Admits he didn’t quite like ‘Rush Hour 3′, but the fourth part will be more like the first.
While ‘Rush Hour’ was once a pioneering franchise that put both Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker on the Hollywood map, ‘Rush Hour 3′ was a bloated sequel that fizzled out with audiences and brought the series to an end. Now, it looks like we’re not the only ones who agree about the weaknesses of the three-quel. So does the producer, and he promises that a fourth installment is coming.

Crave Online talked to producer Arthur Sarkissian, who expressed interest in continuing the 1998 series while admitting the shortcomings of the third installment with promises of a more ‘gritty’ fourth part:
I am working on Rush Hour 4 right now with Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan. I’m trying to do it closer to how I did Rush Hour 1, more down to earth, more gritty, introduce two new characters and make it real the way the first one was. I personally was not happy with the third one. I thought 1 and 2 were very good. I think 3 got out of hand a little bit. It’s not a matter of just bringing them back to do another segment of that or a sequel to it by putting them in another city and having them bicker. I don’t want that. I want something new.
It’s interesting to hear about this direction for the series and especially about the new characters being talked about. Apparently, both Chan and Tucker are “interested” in this possibility but what happens concretely remains to be seen.
Would you see a ‘Rush Hour 4′ or is the series better laid to rest?
