‘Jumanji’ reboot being developed at Sony
The classic kids film is getting a do-over at Sony.
‘Jumanji’ isn’t the most remembered kids film of the past, but certainly one that a lot of children saw and grew up with. The Robin William adventure comedy gained sort of a cult value after its theatrical run and even though the effects might be dated, the movie still clicks with audiences. Now, Sony is doing a re-do for the new generation.

THR speaks to Sony cheif Doug Belgrad who expresses interest in the reboot of the 1995 picture adapted from the 1981 children’s book. Here’s his exact quote:
“We’re going to try and reimagine Jumanji and update it for the present.”
With better special effects and of course 3-D, this could be a worthy remake but only if they keep Robin Williams in there one way or the another and don’t try to pander to kids too much. ‘Zathura’ was actually kind of a sequel to Jumanji but felt different, so it doesn’t count.
Would you watch a ‘Jumanji’ reboot?
