Cast/Director Wishlist for Six Videogame Adaptations

By Faisal Hashmi on July 19, 2012

We lay down six upcoming videogame adaptations and the perfect cast and director that we’d like for the job.

First Impressions
My reaction is

Uncharted

Cast: Bradley Cooper (Nathan Drake), Mila Kunis (Elena), Harrison Ford (Victor)

Let’s be honest here – Nathan Fillion will not be cast as Nathan Drake despite how much us fans want that to be the case. But after Mark Wahlberg dropped out from playing the role in Sony’s adaptation, the choice is still wide open. And realistically, we would like to go with Bradley Cooper to play the role. He looks the part to an extent and has that brilliant combination of cocky humor and a penchant to kick ass that we got to see a glimpse of in ‘The A-Team’ as well. For Elena, Mila Kunis would be the best choice and would actually be faithful to the character but also bring something new to the role. And to only do poetic justice to the film, the father figure mentor character of Victor from the games has to be played by Harrison Ford to really give the nod to Indiana Jones that ends up heavily inspiring the game series in the first place.

Director: Neil Burger

We didn’t really choose the director this time around, since Sony ended up doing that for us by hiring the guy to helm the film. But don’t get me wrong – he’s a very good choice for the film since his first film ‘Limitless’ last year was a surprisingly good and visually fantastic one that shows a lot of promise on the director’s end. Plus, this would be his re-union with Bradley Cooper so our choice makes even more sense now.

Devil May Cry

Cast: Alex Pettyfer (Dante), Tom Felton (Virgil)

We’re trying to forget the odd reboot that’s coming to the series and referring straight to the old games that we loved, and as far as Dante goes, Alex Pettyfer is the guy we see playing him. We have to also be realistic here since all the characters here are young so that restricts our choices, but Pettyfer is a rising new actor that looks the part and has the attitude that Dante is famous for. For his evil brother Virgil from the third game however, there is no one better to play him than Tom Felton aka Dracoy Malfoy. We’ve already seen how menacing the actor can be, but having him play an iconic character like Virgil would be excellent and might just have us rooting for his side to win.

Director: Guillermo Del Toro

We’ve all seen ‘Hellboy’ and Del Toro’s fantasy work clearly suggests that he has great command over anything involving creatures and action scenes in the same film. If ‘Devil May Cry’ takes the ‘Hellboy’ route, we would have some great practically made creatures instead of a huge CGI fest and that’s exactly what could make this film stand out. Plus, he’s one of the best directors in the world so the amount of effort he would put in making this the best film it can be is probably more than the property deserves.

Agree? Disagree? We’d like you guys to sound off in the comments.
