Ed Helms in talks to star in ‘Vacation’ reboot
The ‘Hangover’ star will take on the reboot of Chevy Chase’s comedy franchise.
There were already rumors a few months back about Ed Helms being in talks to star in a reboot of National Lampoon’s “Vacation” franchise that originally starred Chevy Chase, but the actor denied that this was the case. Well, he was a good liar until now.
Variety reports that the actor is currently in talks to star in the reboot that will be directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. He will play the character of Rusty Griswold. who is the son from the original film who is now all grown up and goes on to a road trip adventure with his own family. Predictably, all sorts of hijinks ensue. He’ll get to the project after the final ‘Hangover’ is shot and the ninth season of ‘The Office’ is done, which is time that New Line will use to revise the script in terms of budget.
It’s a pretty cool idea to actually continue the story of an actual character from the originals and Ed Helms is a natural extension to this kind of insane role and I can see him right at home.
