Channing Tatum starring in ‘Evel Knievel’ biopic, plans ‘Magic Mike 2′
From a wannabee rising star to solid A-list actor.
2012 should probably be called ‘the year Channing Tatum turned from a wannabee young star to a solid A-lister’. With ‘The Vow’, ’21 Jump Street’ and now ‘Magic Mike’ being bonafide hits, Channing Tatum is suddenly hot all over Hollywood and can command any project that he wants to. And he’s made his pick and this time it’s a biopic of a daredevil stuntman. But ladies, there’s something else for you too.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that the actor is starring in and producing a biopic of Evil Knievel, the famous daredevil stuntman with Mike DeLuca and Dana Brunetti producing the film. I can’t say Tatum looks the part, but it’s probably a role he can do justice do regardless. The 2008 book Life of Evel by Stuart Barker is the source material which Reid Carolin is adapting.
But here’s the other news that ladies will get quite a kick out of. Speaking to Glamour Magazine when asked whether there are any plans the sequel to this year’s surprise hit ‘Magic Mike’ (where Tatum played a male stripper which he actually was before he came to Hollywood), this is what the actor responded:
“Yes, yes and yes! We’re working on the concept now. We want to flip the script and make it bigger.”
Though I’m not sure if Steven Soderbergh is going to be back as a director, I’m sure there’s a market for the film and the glowing reviews actually doesn’t hurt the prospects.
