‘Saw’ writers are scripting ‘God of War’ movie
Sony’s big videogame adaptation
Things are suddenly cranking up when it comes to videogame adaptations with Assassin’s Creed and Deus Ex both getting big names and studios behind it. And now, a dormant videogame adaptation suddenly has new life as a studio has hired a writing duo to pen a new draft for their flagship bestselling game adaptation.

The game in question is the excellent ‘God of War’, and The Hollywood Reporter reports that Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan have been hired to write a draft for the film. Brett Ratner was set to direct the adaptation five years back, but doesn’t look that will still hold. David Self has written a previous draft and will also produce the film for Universal. The guys are most known for scripting the last four ‘Saw’ movies and actually did a very good job continuing that series without its lead character, but they’ve also worked on ‘Pacific Rim’ as well as ‘Piranha 3DD’. This looks like their big break and I’m excited to see what they do.
The game of course is a big epic action game series that follows Kratos as he has to fight a host of Greeky mythology legends to end up defeating Ares who is the God of War. ‘Clash of the Titans’ and its sequel moreso ripped off liberally from the game’s elements so it will be hard to make a very unique film out of this. But my pick is Zack Synder to direct it since he did an amazing job with ’300′ and this is very similar in style.
