First look of ‘Elysium’ reveals a very bald Matt Damon

Anyone who’s seen ‘District 9′ back in 2009 knows how much of a modern scifi classic it went on to become, and how much people are looking forward to director Neill Blomkamp’s next venture. That film is called Elysium and it has quite a star cast this time around including Matt Damon and Jodie Foster, and has a futuristic sci-fi theme behind it. Now we have a first image from the film that shows a bad-ass Matt Damon holding a big gun. Also, he’s bald.

Here’s the plot synopsis of the film, which will also star Sharlto Copley from District 9:

In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government of?cial, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

That image reminds me of District 9 a lot, and the plot seems to allude to the same kind of political themes that District 9 had. The film releases March 1, 2013.
