First look at Tom Cruise in ‘Jack Reacher’
Tom Cruise gets a new franchise (potentially) in this holiday’s big action movie.
The best kind of big budget action movie is the one Tom Cruise stars in, because he’s one of the only actors who gives it his all for the audience and makes the proceedings a lot more thrilling. After ‘Ghost Protocol’ shot him back up the charts recently, he’s now back to the A-list when it comes to action movies and this December will bring us his other action film that may spark a franchise – ‘Jack Reacher’ which was previously titled the much cooler ‘One Shot’. It’s an adaptation of Lee Child‘s novel One Shot, where Cruise plays the titular character who is a former military policeman.
And EW has the first official image of the film, aside from the billboard art that was revealed a while ago.
Six shots. Five dead. One heartland city thrown into a state of terror. But within hours the cops have it solved: a slam-dunk case. Except for one thing. The accused man says: You got the wrong guy. Then he says: Get Reacher for me. And sure enough, ex—military investigator Jack Reacher is coming. He knows this shooter–a trained military sniper who never should have missed a shot. Reacher is certain something is not right–and soon the slam-dunk case explodes. Now Reacher is teamed with a beautiful young defense lawyer, moving closer to the unseen enemy who is pulling the strings. Reacher knows that no two opponents are created equal. This one has come to the heartland from his own kind of hell. And Reacher knows that the only way to take him down is to match his ruthlessness and cunning–and then beat him shot for shot.
The film is the directorial debut of Christopher McQuarrie, who is the awesome writer behind ‘The Usual Suspects’ and other films. The film also stars Herzog as the villain, and Rosamund Pike, Robert Duvall, Richard Jenkins and Michael Raymond-James.
While Tom Cruise here looks just like Tom Cruise, that’s kind of what we expect from him when he’s in an action movie. If you want something different, check out his excellent and transformational experience in ‘Rock of Ages’ which is in cinemas now.
