‘The Hangover 3′ will shoot in Tijuana and Las Vegas

While the second ‘Hangover’ boldly shifted its setting to Thailand, it was largely the exact same movie as the first one in Las Vegas and that’s everybody’s main complaint of the film. Director Todd Phillips had promised a three-quel that will be the finale and also be quite different from the earlier films, but this first news suggests that at least location-wise it’s going back to basics.

The Film Stage has picked up the info that the film will be set in Tijauna, Mexico and will also have scenes set in Las Vegas where the first movie was set. While this might seem like a rehash of the first movie once again, don’t be so quick to write it off. Because the reported plot is apparently about “the boys rescuing their troubled friend from a mental hospital”. This is not the first time we’ve heard of this plot, as star Zach Galifianakis suggested the same that the troubled friend will be him.

That would be a great and original idea to make the film on, and it would be even more amazing if they let screenwriter Craig Mazin follow his idea of the ending which included almost every character dying in a dark fashion. If executed well, it could really close the trilogy in great fashion.

The film shoots this summer with Zach as well as Justin Bartha, Bradley Cooper, and Ed Helms and even Mike Tyson set to return. It has a release date of May 24, 2013.
