First poster for ‘Dredd’ isn’t the most dreadful
Reboot of comic book character gets a minimalist poster.
One of the movies coming this year is a reboot of an ill-fated comic book character adaptation that originally starred Sylvester Stallone. Judge Dredd is getting a reboot simply titled ‘Dredd’ and this time stars Karl Urban as the titular hero and is aiming to fix what the last movie ended up destroying. Here’s the first poster of the film, which is frankly not that impressive in its attempt to be very ‘teaser-ish’.

Dredd takes us to the wild streets of Mega City One, the lone oasis of quasi-civilization on Cursed Earth. Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) is the most feared of elite Street Judges, with the power to enforce the law, sentence offenders and execute them on the spot – if necessary. Peter Travis directed the film from a script by Alex Garland. Olivia Thirlby and Lena Headey co-star.
The whole design somewhat reminds me of the reboot of ‘Predator’ and how their teaser image was, but that one was more refined and better looking than this. It ends up being a little too dark for audiences to really get the character. But hey, at least they didn’t Photoshop it to death and fans will appreciate this restrained look at the character and I’m sure we’ll have better posters in the days to come.
What do you think?
