‘Fast and the Furious 6′ casting updates: Rihanna, Gina Carano, Luke Evans, Michelle Rodriguez, David Tennant
A flurry for casting updates for the upcoming installment in the franchise – from the sensible to the bizarre.
In the last few days, there have been so many casting updates and rumors regarding the upcoming installment in the ‘Fast and the Furious’ franchise that instead of spamming you with individual articles about each of them, we decided to consolidate them into a mega casting update article which features the organic to the bizarre additions that are being talked about.

First off, there are rumors that Rihanna has been approached for a villain role in the sixth film because the writers find her perfect for the character. But nothing was confirmed. In fact, if her rep is to be believed, she has no idea about it. She told Perez Hilton:
“As far as I’m aware this is not true.”
But we feel that there may be some truth to this regardless. But if she was actually joining the film, she would be fighting the bad-ass fighter turned actress Gina Carano who impressed us in her starring role in ‘Haywire’. The actress is now confirmed to be in talks to join the sequel. She confirms this to EW:
“It looks really positive and I’m so excited.”
The word is that she will be on the right side of the law alongside the character of Dwayne Johnson.
In more predictable news, Michelle Rodriguez has officially joined the movie to reprise the character of Letty that she played in the previous films until her supposed demise. Anyone who went past the credit sequences in ‘Fast Five’ got the reveal that her character was never really dead, which perfectly set up her return to the franchise. And now, it’s official.
But aside from that, Twitch reports that Luke Evans has been offered the role of the villain in the film which was something Jason Statham earlier passed on. He’s a pretty cool actor and I enjoyed his work recently in ‘The Raven’, and could actually do a great job as a villain if he actually ends up accepting the offer. Which I think he might.
And now for the weirdest update of them all, according to Latino Review, director Justin Lin and fan favorite actor David Tennant (Dr. Who, Fright Night) have been having talks about a role in the film. We don’t know whether it’ll be on Vin Deisel’s side of Dwayne Johnson’s, but it could be on the villain’s side even. There’s not even a confirmation at all for this, but looks pretty legit although it’s strange to see him in the running for anything beside some comic relief.
So that’s pretty much it … for now. Thoughts?
