Brad Bird doesn’t plan to direct ‘Mission Impossible 5′
Director of ‘Ghost Protocol’ isn’t likely to return for the fifth installment.
It’s no secret that ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’ was one of the biggest hits of last year and an excellent action movie in itself, thanks in no small part to the vision director Brad Bird brought to the franchise. Though we would all like for him to return for the fifth installment in production, the director himself says that’s most likely not happening.

Collider reports the words of the director and here’s what he has to say about returning for a fifth film:
No, I think that one of the things that’s fun about the series is that they always pull in a different director and try to get a different kind of take on the premise. I’d probably be open to looking at it, but I think that part of one of the successes of the franchises is that they’re always reassessing it with a new director.
He’s right. The series has always been one where a new director has handled every installment and interpreted the film in wildly different ways. Just look at how different all of them feel to each other and have varying degrees of quality. I would still love for him to return at least as a producer, but most likely Paramount will be hiring a new director for the job.
I just hope it’s a good one.
