Elle Fanning in talks to be Sleeping Beauty in ‘Maleficient’
Will join Angelina Jolie in Disney’s new spin on the classic tale.
Modern adaptations of classic stories are the big thing to do right now, but they’re even bigger if an actress like Angelina Jolie signs on to play the lead in your film. Disney has been prepping a new spin on the Sleeping Beauty tale called ‘Maleficent’ for a long time and now has Jolie playing the witch (it will be from her point of view), Robert Stromberg directing and a ready script to go. All they needed to do was to find someone to play Sleeping Beauty, and looks like they’ve found their girl.
Twitch reports that actress Elle Fanning is in talks to play the role of Sleeping Beauty in the film. She’s the younger sister of Dakota Fanning and has had a good 2011 with movies like Super 8 and We Bought A Zoo to her credit. This could be her biggest role yet and she fits the part as well. A charming actress that complements Jolie’s vamp-y looks very well.
