J.K. Rowling’s next book will be ‘very different’ from Harry Potter
The billionaire Harry Potter scribe will ‘explore new territory’ and aim for adults with her next book.
Being probably one of the richest women on the planet, author J.K. Rowling has seen massive success and a lot of moolah from the Harry Potter books and movies. But now that it has coming to an end, she’s already planning a new book which will not cater to the same audience but will be more adult-oriented.
The Hollywood Reporter quotes her official statement:
Although I’ve enjoyed writing it every bit as much, my next book will be very different to the Harry Potter series. The freedom to explore new territory is a gift that Harry’s success has brought me, and with that new territory it seemed a logical progression to have a new publisher. I am delighted to have a second publishing home in Little, Brown, and a publishing team that will be a great partner in this new phase of my writing life.
Aside from the first few books, I never really saw Harry Potter as a bonafide kids series. It was as much as a kids series as Lord of the Rings was a kids series – a mature and progressively darker story that ended with an epic finale. Obviously, even if she writes as adult a novel as possible, everyone in the world will be having their eyes on what the writer of Harry Potter does next.
