‘Dus’ sequel gets new director
One who came up with the plot in five minutes!
When producer Nitin Manmohan suggested director Samir Karnik of potentially doing his Dus sequel, Karnik cracked a plot in mere five minutes. Impressed, Manmohan seems to have offered him the seat.
Dus 2, which is reportedly to begin shoot this year-end, will have Samir Karnik as the director. Karnik made last year’s dud ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana”.
“Nitin Manmohan has asked me to make a sequel to Dus. I am very excited because the action thriller is a new genre for me,” Karnik said to BollywoodHungama.
The sequel will have most of the original cast returning, except the soon-to-be-mommy Shlipa Shetty (I am surprised she hasn’t come up with her own ‘pregnancy fragrance’), who will be replaced with another incompetent performer called Deepika Padukone. Apparently, the role requires of a tall, athletic female and there is currently no one as tall as Ms. I-bad-mouth-my-ex-on-national-television.
On this Karnik said, “Nowadays films are titled as sequels but have no bearing plot-wise and in terms of characterization to the earlier film. Then why call it a sequel? Dus 2 would be a bonafide sequel to Dus.”
So, when can we expect new details? “Right now, I’m breathless trying to put the release of Char Din Ki Chandni in place. As soon as that’s done Nitin Manmohan and I will finalize all the details of Dus 2.”
