Paramount announces ‘Paranormal Activity 4′
‘Paranormal Activity 3′ directors returning, and here’s where the story could go.
With the success of ‘Paranormal Activity 3′, it would only be crazy to believe that Paramount wouldn’t keep the money-making horror franchise going with another installment. And that they did, by announcing yet another installment in the series coming at around the same time this year.
Paramount has announced ‘Paranormal Activity 4′ and plans to release it on October 19. That’s around the same date that the series has been releasing at and it’s a time that works for the films. Bloody Disgusting reports that Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, directors of ‘Catfish’ and the duo which directed the third installment, will be making a return for the fourth one. They definitely brought some creativity to the franchise but I would have liked every installment to be by a new director. It sort of keeps the films feeling fresh.
But where could the story go from here? The third film didn’t really do much to expand on the mythology except until the ending but that itself doesn’t leave much space to do a sequel. They could either go a little forward into the early 1990′s since the third film had some tapes in the first scene marked with that date, or they could just make a sequel to the second film with Katie and show us what happens there. I really hope they don’t go back to 1960′s though.
