‘The Expendables 2′ Update: Donnie Yen Offered Role, Nicolas Cage, John Travolta, Chuck Norris & Taylor Lautner Among Wishlist
Pretty much covers every action star ever.
‘The Expendables’ wasn’t as good of a movie that it clearly could have been, but it was a big deal nonetheless considering how much of a cast it managed to assemble in one movie. For the sequel of course, Stallone wants to one-up the star quotient. And with that in mind, we have a few updates about the project that seem to be pretty exciting.
Twitch reports that producer Ari Lerner has sent Chinese martial arts star Donnie Yen an offer for a role in the movie that he apparently ‘tailor-made’ for the actor. Star of movies like ‘IP Man’, the actor is a big deal in Asia and will no doubt add a lot of star value to the already star studded movie. From what we know so far, Bruce Willis is also up for a big role in the movie possibly as villain, and so is Jean Claude Van Damme who ironically turned down a role in the first film.
Also, Stallone has been carrying a wishlist of actors around with him which has some interesting names that could possibly be a part of the movie. The list includes stars like Taylor Lautner, Christopher Lambert, Nicolas Cage and Christian Slater along with already suggested Chuck Norris and John Travolta. With the exception of Lautner (not an action star) and possibly Christian Slater for the same reasons, every other name is a great fit for the movie and would make the proceedings much more interesting. Of course, this is a wishlist and most of these actors probably will not turn up in the film at all. But it would be great to see Nicolas Cage ham it up along with the other biggies.
What do you think of the project? Looks better than the first one?
