‘Fast & Furious 6′ Crashing Theaters May 24th, 2013
Messes up the titling chronology once again, though.
After ‘Fast Five’ was not only a critical as well as commercial hit (it really was a blast), Universal is still cashing in on one of the biggest hits of the summer. And it would only make sense that the next movie would hit theaters as soon as possible. And now we have a release date for ‘Fast & Furious 6′.
Deadline reports that Universal has set the movie to release on Memorial Day, 2013 which is May 24th for us overseas folks. This is different from the last two movies’ release dates which were in April, just before the summer began. I guess the mammoth gross has convinced the studio that the movie can stand ground amongst the biggies of the summer. Chris Morgan is already working on the script, so expect the project to come together pretty quickly.
While most expected the movie to be called ‘Fast Six’, Universal has added the number back into the mix and called it ‘The Fast and the Furious 6′. Only in reality, they called in ‘Fast & Furious 6′. Not only does this leave the uninitiated wondering where 4 and 5 went, it also makes it sound like a sequel to ‘Fast & Furious’ and makes me wonder whether they’ll keep alternating the main title that way and confusing the world. At least ‘Final Destination 5′ corrected itself properly.
Can’t wait for the film.
