Mark Wahlberg Teaming Up With Justin Bieber For Basketball Drama, Why?
Mark Wahlberg will play mentor to a young player Bieber in a project no one asked for.
From a hearthrob rapper, Mark Wahlberg has had a deserved career turn into one of the most respected actors today especially after ‘The Fighter’ getting Oscar recognition last year. He’s attached to a number of upcoming projects, but one of them looks like an awfully short-sighted misstep.

Speaking to Vulture, Mark Wahlberg revealed that he’s developing a basketball drama with none other than Justin Bieber. Here’s the dialogue:
And is there somebody, sort of unexpected, that you want to work with?
Yeah, Justin Bieber and I are going to do a movie together …Is that actually true?
Well, we’re putting it together. Yeah. We’re doing it at Paramount. We pitched them the idea and, you know, we’re talking about doing it. He loves the idea. He’s been sending me video, he sent me a video of himself, and, yeah, I think he’s really talented.
Deadline reported on the full project having star Wahlberg as a mentor and Bieber as a young player in the vein of films like ‘The Karate Kid’. Now as to my opinion, there’s no reason for Bieber to be entering the acting business first of all even if I keep my opinion about his music aside. And even though he might pull off certain comedic projects, a basketball drama is the last thing he would fit in. And an established actor like Wahlberg should be the last person to team up for a pop-culture based project. But looks like it is happening regardless.
We’ll keep you updated on the project under obligation of blogging important news.
