The Black-and-white science fiction noir series RASL written and drawn by Jeff Smith (famous for Bone) has been picked up by Lionel Wigram of Warner Bros. for a silver screen adaptation. Lionel Wigram who previously introduced Warner Bros. to a similar graphic novel (Sherlock Holmes) is on the lookout for a good scribe to pen the upcoming movie, and is positive it would become a money making franchise for Warner Bros.
The comic book RASL launched in 2008 follows the adventures of a inter dimensional art thief (named RASL) who use to be an ex-military scientist. After being discovered during one of his ‘parallel universes art jobs’ by his former boss, he becomes a fugitive evading his ex-boss while trying to protect one of humanities greatest secrets.
There are 2 reasons why I have no choice but to watch this movie once Warner Bros. decides to release it. For starters Robert Downey Jr. was awesome in Sherlock Holmes (Violence+Wisecracks=FUN). The second reason is that I am a sucker for comic book adaptations. The plot sounds interesting and hopefully it will be a good watch.
The movie is still in its early stages hence the cast and the release date have yet to be announced.
