Disney Announcing ‘Tron: Legacy’ Sequel Soon?
Sources say an announcement can happen anytime soon.
It’s clear knowledge now that ‘Tron: Legacy’ wasn’t as great of a film we all expected it to be but was pretty good as a visual treat. But contrary to popular belief, it hasn’t bombed.
Sure, it isn’t playing most theaters in UAE anymore and the budget was $320 million and it has grossed only $300 million worldwide, but you’ve got to know that Disney has a whole line of merchandise on shelves everywhere, a ‘Tron Evolution’ game, a cartoon and mini-series that will air later next year and much more. All those will make a lot of money even before the DVD/Blu-Ray and cable sales are factored in. It’s clear that they want ‘Tron’ to be a mega-franchise for them. And a sequel to ‘Tron: Legacy’ might be on the way.

Ain’t It Cool News reports from sources that the movie is “incredibly close to having its SEQUEL announced”:
As kids around the country pulled out wall crawling light trail leaving Tron LIGHT CYCLES from under their Christmas trees, Disney has been counting the receipts – and I’m told… it’s about to hit the tipping point. Now the real question is… Where does TRON go from here? There is a plan, but it is being closely guarded.
There’s certainly a lot of directions to go to in the sequel. Cillian Murphy’s character was just hinted at for a bigger role in the sequel, Tron himself at nothing more than a cameo and many things were left open-ended. I certainly wouldn’t mind a third Tron movie, I would just hope they add heart and an actually compelling storyline this time around.
