Actress Candidates For ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Revealed

It’s necessary to take all Batman rumors with a grain of salt, but it’s no hidden fact that Christopher Nolan is looking for two female actresses for the third film ‘The Dark Knight Rises, one as a love interest and one has a female villain. That definitely opens up a wide array of casting possibilities, and we now know who’s in the running at the moment.

Hollywood Reporter has the list of actresses involved and the names are Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Biel, Kate Mara, Charlotte Riley and Gemma Arterton.

The report suggests that Gemma Arterton might not be in the running anymore after signing to play the lead in ‘Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters’ which is bound to cause scheduling problems. There’s reports that Eva Green and Naomi Watts have also auditioned for roles. Now I would very much like Knighley, Watts or Green to get parts in the movie since they seem to be natural fits to the kind of atmosphere Nolan has created.

Kate Mara, for those who don’t know, was last seen in a small role in ‘Iron Man 2′ and was also in ’127 Hours’. Charlotte Riley is a British television actress and wife of Tom Hardy, who is also in the movie. One person I absolutely don’t want to get a role is Jessica Biel, who has no emotional range whatsoever and that’s evidenced very well in her one-note ‘The A-Team’ performance.
