Teen PG-13 ‘Hellraiser’ Remake Headed By Patrick Lussier & Todd Farmer

With horror remakes coming in dozens right now, it was only a matter of time before ‘Hellraiser’ got its due. And now we know a remake is in order but is reportedly taking the worst possible direction for the series.

In order to keep the rights to the franchise, Dimension Films has already put a DVD sequel in production called ‘Hellraiser: Revelations’. But that doesn’t mean that they’re done with the franchise. Talks of a remake surfaced a few days ago which was reportedly aiming for a teenage friendly PG-13 rating and had Amber Heard rumored to star. Naturally, given the content of the franchise (eroticism mixed with gore), no fan took this lightly.

Now we have news from Bloody Disgusting that they have “confirmed without a shadow of doubt that Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer are the duo who will be bringing Pinhead back to theaters.” The duo is best known for their work on the pretty good horror remake ‘My Bloody Valentine 3D’ but that was a gory R-rated affair. Why would they give a PG-13 treatment to our favorite Pinhead?

Those who don’t know the franchise, it’s mostly known for its now-iconic character Pinhead and has spawned multiple sequels. The films aren’t high art, but they have a unique quality to them that make them well worth a watch. Will a remake do it justice? Of course, we still don’t have confirmation on the PG-13 aspect but looking at today’s industry, I won’t have a hard time believing it.
