At the end of the month, I will do another horror-movie based list for Halloween running down some more horror movies that need to be seen. And without a doubt, ’28 Days Later’ will make that list. It’s one of the most influential movies of our times and takes a very new spin on the zombie genre giving us a post-apocalyptic London that we will never forget. The sequel is also very well done despite Danny Boyle not returning to direct it. A third installment was always rumored considering how the second film ended, but never materialized. Looks like it may.

Danny Boyle, who later on went to direct ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and the upcoming ’127 Hours’, is actually willing to return as director on the third film that might be called ’28 Months Later’. STYD reports some quotes of him at a Q&A for 127 Hours where he says that if audiences demand the movie enough, he will definitely return for it and has an idea that he may want to direct.
But first, he says he has quite a few things on his slate right now including a stage adaptation of Frankenstein in London next year, while the 2012 Olympics will also have him as the art director. Not to mention any other Oscar fodder that falls his way. So expect the movie to come around pretty late, but it would be awesome to see Boyle make a return to horror in a sequel to one of his finest films.
What do you think?
