Universal is probably the most mismanaged studio running right now, right down to everything they do. Almost every movie of theirs in the last two years has been a financial flop including the recent ‘Scott Pilgrim’ (which was unfortunate). The studio had Hollywood in awe when they announced a big budget feature film based on the board game known as Battleship. Prepare for another awe-inspiring news.

THR reports that ‘Battleship’ has a budget of around $200 million, which is the high end of any kind of blockbuster nowadays and a huge bet for a movie so risky as this one. It already has a cast (including Taylor Kitsch and Rihanna) and Peter Berg as a director as well as an alien invasion angle that hopes to sell more tickets. But will people really flock to see a Battleship movie?
Let’s wait and see if Universal will finally meet success or will this be just another bomb in their slate.
