James Cameron has been planning a 3-D rerelease of Titanic for a long time now and promised to do it right with the right amount of time needed. We earlier had the hint that the movie would be released close to the 100 year anniversary of the actual sinking of Titanic. Now we have confirmation.

The Los Angeles Times confirms that Cameron is “converting the blockbuster into 3-D for re-release in April 2012, the 100th anniversary of the ship’s sinking. ” The original RMS Titanic took sail on April 10th 1912 in England and sank four days later on April 14th 1912. The movie should be released somewhere around this time in 2012.
The movie is sure to do gangbusters at the box-office but it’s unclear whether the whole 3-D fad will still remain or not. It’s definitely an iconic movie that will be surely worth a trip in 3-D once again (if done right).
