Michael Bay Actually Shooting ‘Transformers 3′ With 3-D Cameras

Well, this is good news. While most of the industry was quick to climb the 3-D bandwagon, director Michael Bay was the unlikely stand-out who was vocal against the technology and didn’t want to adapt his shooting style to it. Of course, that would be a problem for Paramount who wants a 3-D ‘Transformers 3′. We earlier heard that the movie will get a 3-D release, which got us worried if it’s going to be the shitty post-converted one. Well thankfully, that isn’t the case.

Vince Pace, the guy who invented the FUSION 2-D and 3-D cameras with James Cameron, tells this to MarketSaw:
“Trying to lay low and do what I do best. We took delivery of the first Alexa cameras for Hugo and have 23 more on the way. Transformers has also signed on to shoot 3D throughout the film. I am working on a big Disney film but can’t mention the name and are lining up five more films. Just wrapped on additional photography for Resident Evil and Tron. Currently in Hawaii and flying out to London for Hugo.”
So there. Bay is shooting the film the way it should be, even though it goes against his frenetic shooting style. At least he was smart enough to go the original route than have the film butchered into 3-D later on.
We all know from ‘Clash of the Titans’ how fake 3-D turns out.
