Ubisoft has announced The Division 3, the third instalment in the online multiplayer shooter franchise. Massive Entertainment will once again helm the game.

The news was dropped as Ubisoft also announced that the Creative Director behind their upcoming Star Wars Outlaws, Julian Gerighty, has now become the executive producer for The Division franchise. Gerighty will now oversee all The Division games, including the mobile offshoot releasing soon-ish.

“There are only a few games that I can genuinely say blew me away the first time I saw them, and Tom Clancy’s The Division is one of them,” Gerighty said in a press statement (via IGN). “I was immediately hooked, like so many others who are part of our devoted player community. It’s a privilege and an honour to be able to continue to build incredible and unforgettable experiences in this amazing world with the most talented teams around the world, and I can’t wait for what’s next.”

The Division 3 is still a long way off, so don’t expect any trailer or gameplay information to drop anytime soon. Currently, Massive is building a team for the game, which might take some time before the game’s production goes underway.

The Division launched in 2016 and immediately captivated players with its unique co-op multiplayer experience. The Division 2, released in 2019, didn’t replicate the first game’s success, but it still was a commercial success with over 10 million copies sold. Along with The Division 3, Ubisoft also plans to release the free-to-play spin-off, The Division Heartland, sometime next year.
