Nintendo recently hosted a 40-minute Nintendo Direct in which the company announced a brand new Mario game, showed off new trailers for upcoming games, dropped a new trailer for Detective Pikachu 2, confirmed Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol 1 on the platform, and more!

Super Mario Bros. Wonder Announced

Nintendo’s big reveal in its June Direct was Super Mario Bros. Wonder, a brand new 2D Mario that looks to shake things up a bit. One of the biggest new additions to the game is Wonder Flowers, which seems to make inanimate objects come to life. For example, the classic green pipes appear to have eyes and can twist and bend to aid Mario’s jumping endeavours. Players can choose to play as Mario, Luigi, Toad, Princess Peace, Princess Daisy, and Yoshi in Super Mario Bros. Wonders, which is set to release on October 20, 2023 for the Nintendo Switch.

Metal Gear?!

Konami was present at the Nintendo Direct showcase to announce that its upcoming Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol 1 will release for the Nintendo Switch alongside PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on October 24, 2023. The Vol 1 collection features Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake.

Detective Pikachu 2 is Coming this October

Time to perk up your ears and wear your best brown hat; Nintendo today finally dropped a new trailer and a release date for Detective Pikachu 2, which is scheduled to release on October 6, 2023. The game is said to dive deeper into the originals of Detective Pikachu (because we guess even he needs an origin story?) and allow players to solve crimes and mysteries across Ryme City.

It also revealed that players can now set off on night expeditions and discover glowing Pikmin. Nintendo also announced a demo for Pikmin 4 on June 28.

Additionally, GameCube’s Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2 are available on the Nintendo Switch eShop. Players can purchase both the game individually or as a bundle, and those who want a physical version of the classic games will have to wait until September 22, 2023.

Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon Remaster Announced

Nintendo showcased yet another remaster in the form of Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon. The game was originally released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2013 and was a sequel to Lugi’s Mansion.

In addition to that, Nintendo also announced a new Princess Peace game. The Switch makers didn’t dive deeper into the game, but it looks like a 2.5D sidescroller.

This is a remake of the 1998’s Playstation title, Star Ocean: The Second Story, and will feature a complete re-imagining of the original game with a mix of 2D pixel characters and 3D environments. The game will be released on November 3, 2023, on Switch, PS5, PS4 and PC.

As the name suggests, Headbangers Rhythm Royale is a Battle Royale game. And again, as the name would suggest, it’s also a musical Battle Royale game. It seems like the perfect marriage of genres to us! In this game, players will go up against 29 other players in over 20 musical minigames to emerge victorious. Headbangers will release on October 31, 2023.

Manic Mechanics Announced

Manic Mechanics is a four-player co-op game where players are tasked to repair vehicles as quickly as possible. However, the “vehicles” won’t be sports cars and other boring four-wheelers, but also trucks, choppers, tractors, mini-subs, and even UFOs!
