Within a trailer revealing the highly anticipated releases for 2024, PlayStation has included Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake, officially known as Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater, as a game slated for release this year.

The trailer, available for viewing below, provides a lineup of games expected to release for the PlayStation 5 this year, such as Helldivers 2, The Last of Us Part II Remastered, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Stellar Blade, Rise of Ronin, and the soon-to-be-released Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and Tekken 8. Additionally, the trailer includes a brief glimpse of the Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake, which suggests that the highly anticipated stealth espionage game will indeed make its arrival this year.

The trailer also confirms the forthcoming release of another Konami game, Silent Hill 2 Remake, for this year. While Konami has yet to disclose specific dates for either of these titles, their inclusion in the PlayStation announcement lends credibility to their existence.

The Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake is set to launch on the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, presenting an authentic retelling of the original game with the original voice-acting talents of David Hayter intact. The remake will also feature modern controls and updated visuals tailored to next-generation hardware.

Few details beyond this have been unveiled about the game thus far, aside from a single trailer that accompanied the announcement. The trailer showcased a camouflaged FOX operative named Naked Snake, stealthily manoeuvring through a jungle and engaging in intense close-quarters combat with enemies.

Taking place during the Cold War, the game follows Naked Snake on a mission to rescue Soviet Union Russian rocket scientist Nikolai Stepanovich Sokolov, sabotage an experimental weapon, and eliminate his defected former boss. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater departs from the franchise’s signature high-tech, near-future elements and instead immerses players in a wilderness survival experience. However, it preserves the series’ core emphasis on stealth, espionage, and narrative storytelling through numerous extensive cutscenes and codec radio conversations.

As the supposed release date for this year draws near, we anticipate further updates from Konami regarding the remake. Let’s hope they don’t keep us waiting too long.
