While its parent company, Embracer Group, is jousting with layoffs and financial struggles, developers Gearbox seems busy working on several new unannounced titles – or at least those are the indications.

Eurogamer spotted a LinkedIn post by a developer working at Lost Boys Interactive that referenced Borderlands 4, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands 2, and a Brothers in Arms game. All of the games were mentioned as being built with Unreal Engine 4.

Lost Boys Interactive is a support studio within Gearbox and is part of Embracer Group.

While the rumoured titles might be exciting news for fans of the series, it doesn’t mean they are being actively developed. Embracer recently announced it had laid off around 904 staff members and had “written down” 15 projects from studios such as Amplifier, Freemode, Plaion, Saber, THQ Nordic, and even Gearbox.

It is hard to imagine that a new Borderlands game might be cancelled as it has the most successful franchise for Gearbox and has had critical and commercial success across several mainline games and spinoffs. However, the future of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands and a new Brothers in Arms games are in the air.

While we don’t have an exact figure on how much Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands sold – last we know, it generated sales of around 100,000 units in its first month of launch – it was received well by critics with a 78 per cent rating on Opencritics.

However, Brothers In Arms, Gearbox’s long-dormant World War shooter, is much less on the radar. The last we heard from the franchise was a mainline entry called Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway in 2008, while a fourth game, Furious 4, was announced in 2011 and then quickly cancelled, with some of its parts being used to created the ill-fated hero shooter Battleborn.
