First Details on L4D DLC

Valve is expected to make an announcement revealing more details of the upcoming downloadable content for Left 4 Dead, says Valve writer Chet Faliszek. The announcement was supposed to happen before christmas but Valve being them, someone probably stole the announcement press release. Heh!

Faliszek confirmed that the DLC will bring in new scenarios to play saying "what we want to do is just deliver more content you can play at this point." The DLC will also open up Dead Air and Death Toll campigns for the Versus mode, a move that will certainly be appreicated by many of the players who lamented the 2 campaign limit. The SDK will also be made available at some point but it may not be with the DLC.

Faliszek also said that the DLC will release at the same time for the Xbox 360 as it would for the PC. That is certainly good news for the Xbox players but not so much for the PC players. Considering Microsoft’s hard-arseness about putting a price on anything that moves in the XBLM, it could possibly mean that the DLC will be a paid one. Valve couldn’t release the DLC with a price on one platform and free for another, could they? Or will Valve effectively convince Microsoft? Only time will tell I guess.

Ports and Expansions: Reason Why F.E.A.R Lost Its Touch

December 29, 2008 by

In an interview with CVG, Dave Matthews, lead artist of F.E.A.R 2: Project Origin said that ports and expansion for F.E.A.R is the reason why the franchise has lost its appeal towards gamers.

"[TimeGate] took the story in a direction that we didn’t intend," he added. "We look at Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate as an alternate universe, a ‘what could have been’, and because of that it doesn’t necessarily diminish the story that we were trying to tell. F.E.A.R. was about Alma, F.E.A.R. 2 is about Alma, and we wanted to continue the story the way we originally intended."

Dave Matthews promises that the ports for the 360 and PS3 version of the game will be as close to PC version, unlike the original F.E.A.R.

"Now we’re handling all three versions, we’ve changed our development structure to develop all three SKUs simultaneously and there’s no lead platform," he said. "While there will be some slight variations between the different versions, so if you’re on PC you can push some things further, our main goal is to make sure the experience is synonymous across all three platforms."

Project Origin is scheduled to scare the hell outta you on February 13, 2009.

Browsing through the newly redesigned official website of Remedy’s Alan Wake, we stumbled upon a bunch of new screenshots for the game. Check them out below.

I believe we are past the ‘new media’ phase for this game. We know it looks fantastic. We know the game is going to be great. About time Remedy throws in some story/character information about the game. Or even a release date would be perfect, wouldn’t it?
