MEGamers.com is looking for talented freelance reviewers and section editors.

Reviewers required
MEGamers.com is in search of talented freelance writers with a passion for reviewing video games.

To apply, send in a review of any new game (released in the last 12 months) to the editor at editor [at] megamers dot com. The review must be a minimum of 500 words. There is no maximum limit.

MEGamers.com will publish reviews at its discretion and may choose to reject reviews if it does not meet its standards. Reviews will be published only with the consent of the writer.

Once the first review is accepted, writers will have the option to collect new games from MEGamers.com (supplied by the distributor) and review the game. Once a game is collected, writers will have a maximum of two weeks to submit the review.

As of now, no monetary benefits will be provided in exchange for the review. However, writers will be allowed to keep the games they review and will be credited for their work.

Guidelines to follow when submitting reviews:

1) All reviews must be a minimum of 500 words.

2) The scorecard must be divided into Gameplay, Graphics, Sound, Value, Tilt and Overall. Scores must be given on a scale of 1 to 10. The score for each category must be accompanied by a sentence on why you have chosen that score. Eg. Graphics – 9.0 (Spectacular visuals and highly detailed backdrops)

3) Please submit screenshots where possible. Screenshots must be at least 640 pixels wide. Screenshots are not mandatory though.

4) Please do not plagiarise. All work will be checked and if we find that you have copied a review, you will be banned.

General FAQ:

Q: Once I submit my first review, how soon can I start collecting games from MEGamers.com and how many games can I take at a time?
Ans: Once your first review is accepted, you can collect a game from MEGamers.com within the next week or sooner. Reviewers can take one game at a time and will need to submit the review before collecting the next game. If you live within the Middle East, we can arrange to have games delivered to you for review by courier.

Q: If this isn’t a paid job, what’s in it for me?
Ans: The fame and glory of working for the biggest gaming site in the Middle East. You will get credited for your review. You will also get to keep the game you review.

Q: I want to write reviews but don’t know how. Can you help me?
Ans: Here are a few tips to help you write reviews:

a) Play the game and make notes on what you think is good about the game and what you think is bad

b) Once you have jotted down the pros and cons, elaborate on them to form paragraphs on each point.

c)Arrange your paragraphs so that there is a smooth flow of points – you could start with an intro, then talk about the storyline, then the gameplay, then graphics and sound and then a brief conclusion. Do not break the flow by starting the review directly taking about something like graphics, then move on to another topic and then come back to graphics.

d) Read lots of reviews on other sites like Gamespot.com, Gamedaily.com, IGN.com and Gamespy.com. You can take points from other reviews but please do not plagiarize.
