Warner Bros. has confirmed a new date for its postponed multiplayer-focused shooter, Gotham City Impostors. In the US, it launches on February 7; it follows a day later in Europe and for PAL territories.

Gotham City Impostors was originally pegged for an early January outing; but need for more polish and tweaking pushed the game back to an unspecified date.

The Monolith-developed shooter just launched recently in public beta form to Xbox 360 and PS3 users. Full game will be available for download on PC, PlayStation Network and Xbox Live.

EA and Klei Entertainment have sent over a press release announcing that Shank 2, the highly-anticipated sequel to the 2010 side-scrolling beat ‘em up hit, will release on February 7 in North America and February 8 in Europe.

According to developer Klei Entertainment, controls have been tweaked in Shank 2, which means the sequel is bound to offer evolved combat experience.
Shank 2 will also feature a Survival mode, giving players the opportunity to play cooperatively and take down hordes of enemies – both online and offline.

Shank 2 is headed to PC, PSN and XBLA, priced $9.99 or 800 MS Points.

Kinect title from Psychonauts dev sees a release date.

Double Fine’s Kinect title Happy Action Theater will be released on Xbox Live on the very first day of February.

Studio boss Tim Schafer took it to Twitter and made the announcement.

“Better achieve your life’s goals asap, because come 2/1 your priorities will change,” he wrote.

Happy Action Theater will be Double Fine’s second game to grace Microsoft’s motion sensing device following last year’s One Upon a Monster. The game has players doing fancy activities in front of Kinect like swatting away birds, destroying random stuff – it also features lots of psychedelic mini games that will likely induce you to become a little stoned after playing. Get a glimpse in the trailer below.

Developers can submit larger gamers and at new price points.

The team at XNA Game Studio is still in the New Year festive mood, and so in celebration have introduced a slew of changes to Xbox Live Indie Games, which should bring much flexibility to the developers.

The changes are:
Higher maximum CCGAME size
Since the start of Xbox LIVE Indie Games, CCGAME bundles submitted for Xbox LIVE Indie Games were limited to a maximum size of 150MB. We’ve heard all the great feedback on this subject and today we are pleased to inform you that developers are now able to submit CCGAME bundles up to 500MB through App Hub for publishing on Xbox LIVE Indie Games.

New limit for 80 point games
Another area we’re adjusting today is the requirement that titles larger than 50MB be priced at either 240 or 400 points. After raising our maximum size we’ve decided to also raise this limit. Starting today you can apply the 80 point price to any game with a CCGAME size under 150MB, which is three times the current limit of 50MB.

More titles per developer
The last change affects a fewer number of developers, but we still believe it’s an important update. Originally developers were limited to just eight titles on Xbox LIVE Indie Games. When Creators Club became App Hub, we raised the limit up to ten. We’re happy today to let you know that we’re again raising this limit up to twenty titles per developer.

Microsoft is doing something good? Weird.

Developer Team Meat has confirmed that its tough-as-nails platformer Super Meat Boy did pretty well in sales over the past year, succeeding the one million mark as of last month.

“Fun Fact: Super Meat Boy past [sic] the million sales mark last month!” a statement read on Twitter. “PLATINUM BABY.”

The indie game made its debut on XBLA back in October 2010 as part of Microsoft’s GameFest XBLA promotion. A month later, it became available via Steam for PC, then for Mac back in November 2011.

Team Meat’s next project is described as “experimental” by the two-man outfit.

Will feature original Japanese and US soundtracks.

Press release:
SEGA Europe Ltd. and SEGA of America, Inc. today announced that fan favourite Sonic CD will be released on multiple platforms from tomorrow. Relive the story of the 1993 original, which sees Dr. Eggman again, attempting to take control of the future by stealing the Time Stones from Little Planet. Sonic must speed through levels and travel through time whilst fending off Eggman’s robots to recover the Time Stones and save the smitten young hedgehog, Amy Rose.

One of GamesRadar’s top 100 games of all time, the revamped version of this popular title will include the original Japanese and US soundtracks as requested by the fans, and, for the first time, the ability to play the game as Sonic’s best friend Tails, who can be unlocked by clearing the game for the first time. Sonic CD also features the first appearance of Metal Sonic, one of Sonic’s most enduring nemesis.

“Sonic’s 20th Anniversary has been a banner year for him – as well as for everyone at SEGA,” said Haruki Satomi, Vice President of Digital Business at SEGA of America. “Gamers around the world are rediscovering their love of Sonic through his adventures, new and old. Whether you’re a long-time hedgehog aficionado looking to enjoy a favourite moment from Sonic’s past, or a brand-new player who wants to join in on the fun, there’s no better place to start than with one of Sonic’s most celebrated games, Sonic CD.”

Sonic CD will be available tomorrow for the following platforms: Xbox LIVE Arcade for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft (400 MSP), the PlayStation Network for $5.00 / £3.59/ €4.49 / AUD$6.25 and iPhone, iPod touch, iPad for $4.99/ AUD$5.49/Euro $3.99/UK £2.99. Sonic CD will also be released on Android and Windows Phone in the New Year.
