Original Story: A Nikkei business report is claiming that Kazuo Hirai, PlayStation veteran and current executive deputy president of Sony Computer Entertainment, will be taking over as president of Sony Corporation in the few coming months

A board meeting will be held next month, which will regulate the process of replacing current Sony boss, CEO and chairman Sir Howard Stringer – who will apparently be stripped from his position, with Hirai stepping up as new Sony president as early as April.

It concludes that Stringer is likely to maintain his role as chairman and chief executive officer.

Hirai, the early-2011-appointed deputy president, also manages Sony’s consumer businesses – hence another promotion for the man wouldn’t be surprising at all. Better wait for an official word from Sony.[jwplayer config="meg_600px" mediaid="49321"]

Guess what starts with ‘G’ and ends with an ‘R’. No not Growlanser.

Atlus has been sending emails from the beginning of the week, spreading hints that their next title would start with the letter ‘G’ and end with an ‘R’. Well guess what it is? Gungnir, a Japanese strategy RPG, coming exclusively for the PSP. It’s due out on June 12, 2012.

According to Atlus, Gungnir’s strategy RPG mechanics “offer a number of fresh twists on an expertly honed formula. Building upon the traditional action queue of turn-based strategy RPGs, actions in Gungnir all have a numerical wait interval associated with them.”

Atlus has set up a teaser page for Gungnir, as well, which doesn’t show much but promises for more updates soon.

Many would probably say Atlus has arrived late to the party especially now that the PlayStation Vita is launched in Japan. Well here’s another proof that the PSP still has something to keep It going in the future. The new game also has a trailer; I liked the music.

Final Fantasy Type-0 game director Hajime Tabata revealed in a recent interview that an international version of the celebrated spin-off PSP RPG is currently being prepped.

Tabata spilled the words while speaking to Final Fantasy Ultimania (via Andriasang). The director said that the Type-0 team is hard at work preparing the “overseas” version of the game, without giving out details when it’ll release. Still, it’s really good to hear that Type-0 will get the English treatment; I personally have been anticipating this RPG since its announcement.

Final Fantasy Type-0 has been available to Japanese players since early November, receiving a near-perfect score from Famitsu.

Activision has lifted the wraps off a new Men in Black game for consoles and handhelds.

Developed by Romanian studio Fun Labs, the game is set for release in spring 2012 to tie in with upcoming movie release of Men in Black 3.

The game is described as ‘true to the spirit of the franchise”, which we’re not quite sure if that’s a good thing, considering the last game in the series wasn’t fairly well received.

According to Activision, the game features “action packed yet light-hearted gameplay mixed with edge-of-your-seat shooting excitement”, and promises a story that builds on the history of the series.

We have two screenshots for you down below.

Classic title making its downloadable debut in this week’s PS Store update.

Mega Man 4 will be making its PSN debut as a downloadable title on the US PlayStation Store.

Set to arrive this week, the fan favorite side-scrolling classic will release on PSN as a PSone import title, which means the dialogue, is mostly in Japanese – but who cares, this is Mega Man, right?

Originally released as a NES title in 1991, Mega Man 4 was the first to introduce the iconic Mega Buster charge attack before firing at opponents, which although wasn’t a welcomed change and often cited for being unbalanced, it was a definite turning point for futuristic outings in the franchise.

If you have a US account, look out for the game following this week’s PS Store update.

Some of the anticipated Vita iterations such as Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Gravity Daze, Dynasty Warriors, Ridge Racer, Disgaea 3 as well as host of other games will be showcased.

Of course, the console’s bigger brother the PS3 won’t be outdistanced here – there’ll be heaps of AAA content to display, including in-house releases such as Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, ICO and Ratchet & Clank: All4One. As for major third-party titles, Battlefield 3, Ninja Gaiden 3, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, FFXIII-2 and Binary Domain will all make their mighty presence.

SCEE does something nice to riot victim Ashraf Haziq.

If you’ve been following the latest news earlier this week, you would have an idea about the crucial situation in some of the locales in London, and perhaps passed across the story of Ashraf Haziq.

Ashraf Haziq, a Malaysian university student in England, had the misfortune to be severely injured during the unsettling events. Ashraf was bleeding on the street, until supposedly someone approached him to offer some aid, only to find out he’s being mugged by another individual who rifled the content of his bag and walked away with his PSP.

In order to help Ashraf, a website has been launched to seek assistance and “do something nice” for the injured student. Well, that’s where SCEE director of marketing, Alan Duncan, made a comment that the company would “like to give Ashraf a new PSP and games,” while asking for a way to be put in contact with the boy.

Also, Namco Bandai confirmed to VG247 that they’ll be offering Haziq a package of games in support of SCEE’s goodwill gesture.

Ashraf Hazik is currently treated in a hospital after suffering from a broken jaw during the ongoing UK riots, which has spread across the nation’s capital since the beginning of the week. Check out the disturbing clip below.
