Metro 2034 Confirmed, To Be in 3D
4a Games planning sequel to its well received thriller-shooter.
THQ revealed that a sequel for 4a Games excellent post-apocalyptic shooter Metro 2033 is in development, and guess what? It’s coming in 3D, of course!
Speaking to CVG, THQ VP of core games, Danny Bilson confirmed the existence of the sequel and also said that Metro 2034 will be one of the four games from the publisher that will go 3D, which also includes the original game.
“We’re showing Metro 2033 in 3D right now, which Nvidia is showing as one of their key demo products,” he said.
“We’re going to be doing a 3D version of that on Metro 2034 – the sequel. And there will be some engineering costs there, but that’s in our lowest cost centre in the world. Those games are unbelievably reasonable, they’re built in Kiev.”
That’s certainly excellent news. Metro 2033 was one of the finest, albeit slightly rough around the edges, first person shooter that made excellent use of its superb technology to create a unique experience. A DLC is planned, which will add news weapons, a ‘Ranger Mode’, and new achievements. No release date has been yet confirmed.
