Irrational Games Returns
Take Two renames 2K Boston back to its previous fame.
Irrational Games, makers of the classic System Shock series and the seminal Bioshock, had a change of name when Take-Two Interactive acquired the studio and named it 2K Boston, a move towards having a unified name under its subsidiary 2K Games. However, it seems the publishing giant has had a change of heart and has reacquainted it with its previous renown.
GameInformers informs us that 2K Boston is no more, and that the change came when the team, after being tired of suffixing ’2K Boston’ with ‘(formerly Irrational Games)’, “recognized a value in the previous identity and the legacy that was tied to it.”
That’s it then, you may no more call it 2K Boston with a gleam of sadness in your eyes anymore. Irrational Games have also launched their new website: http://irrationalgames.com/ , which will feature an “array of cool community features, insight into the game creation process, and never-before-seen tidbits about games like System Shock 2, Freedom Force, and BioShock.” There is a message from Kevin Levin already up which promises to” tell you about the game we’re working on right now” but “just not today”.
Naughty Dog, keep the arrogance in check, would you kindly?
