Rumor: Wii 2 Specs Leaked
Nintendo France employee reveals Blu-ray support for Wii’s sequel.
According to MaxConsole.net, the next Wii iteration may get a Blu-ray drive and 1080p support for games as well as for movies. This information comes from their reliable source from Logic-sunrise.com who’s source is a leak from an Nintendo France employee working for the marketing department.
The source reveals that Wii 2 (let’s call it that for now) will get a Blu-ray drive to usher them into the Hi-Definition era while also aiming to stop piracy as hackers have been unable to crack the Playstation 3 yet and consquently, will also support 1080p resolution for games and movies. Wii 2 is scheduled to release in Q3 2010 and will have a simultaneous release worldwide (not for Middle East though, we don’t exist for Nintendo). Nintendo will also roll out a exchange scheme were buyers will able to exchange their Wii consoles for a discount on Wii 2.
Interestingly, Nintendo will only announce the console a month before the release date and will use aggressive marketing tactics to create the necessary buzz.
