Journey developer will announce a new game very soon
Studio’s first multiplatform endeavor likely to be revealed next month.
According to an interview with Jenova Chen, the co-founder of Journey and Flower developer Thatgamecompany, the studio is set to lift the wraps off their next project very soon.
The studio’s three-games contract with Sony is over and thus is now free to release a multiplatform game for the first time. Chen said that negotiations are currently on and the announcement could be publicly shared as early as next month; so that’s like June.
“It takes us a little bit of time to basically readjust after the three game deal [with Sony],” Chen told VG247. “We’re very close in figuring out what the next deal is.
“We’re negotiating with various partners, so maybe within the next month, we’ll be able to determine which is the [right deal].”
Thatgamecompany’s last project was Journey; a title was fantastically well-received among critics and was mostly praised for its original concept and moving art direction.
