Capcom has a $1200 RE6 limited edition for Japan
It has an actual Leon’s jacket in it.
There are two ways to spend money on video games other than video games itself – the evil downloadable content or Collector’s Editions. Unlike the former, the latter is quite popular among gamers. Publishers love to make them as well. Not only do they give their game a sense of polish and triple-A’ness, but a collector’s edition says how much faith they have in their product. Oh and, also because they can charge whatever the hell they want.
Case in point: Capcom. The publisher has a Resident Evil 6 collector’s edition planned for Japan that costs no less than $1200 (or ¥100,000). What does it contain? Well, the game itself, of course, plus four cases for your (i?)Phone, and an actual, wearable replica of Leon’s jacket.
There will only be 5,000 units of them, so if you are in Japan and feel like spending a months salary on a jacket, make sure you queue up at launch on October 2nd.
